We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our highly successful IG Schools portfolio focused on UK schools. This is a full-time position and can be based in either our Manchester or London office, with preference to Manchester.

Inside Government and IG Schools portfolio

Inside Government runs conferences, forums and training courses serving several key public sector verticals, from Higher Education to Criminal Justice and Housing. The IG Schools portfolio includes 30-40 events a year, including our two flagship conferences The SEND Conference and The Pupil Premium Conference. Running since 2007, these CPD-accredited events support school staff from across the UK by providing them the opportunity to learn, interact and share best practice.

The role:

The IG Schools team is recruiting for a hands-on Business Development Manager. Working alongside the Head of Sales and the division's Managing Director, the Business Development Manager will have the following responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to

  • Sell tickets and ticket bundles and drive sales campaigns across the IG Schools portfolio
  • This is predominately a new business role, establishing a new sales channel and creating client accounts
  • Research, planning and implementing new target market initiative
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs
  • Develop and target premium accounts
  • Collaborate with the Head of Sales and Managing Director to develop sales strategies to improve market share

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, changing environment (preferably in the training/CPD arena although not essential)
  • Developing long lasting relationships with organisations that new and existing target accounts for the portfolio.
  • Significant experience in sales with a demonstrated successful sales record of high-value sales activity in a B2B environment
  • Experience working within the Education sector is essential (selling into the public sector/Government or working within the Education sector)
  • A hunger to reach and exceed targets
  • A tenacious 'can do' approach to work
  • Be able to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels across the business
  • Must be professional, resilient, approachable, diligent, and have a flexible approach to work
  • Excellent organisation and time keeping skills
