Purpose of Role:
Provides excellent and timely customer service to internal customers in fulfilling the procurement and material management process by proactively seeking to identify problems and swiftly implement appropriate solutions when required and handling any unanticipated requests or other problems on materials purchased.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed.
Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.
Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
Associates degree or 3 years of related experience in vendor management.
A typical day may look like this:
Develop and maintain material expediting reports.
Analyze open order reports
Organize report by sorting or filtering by vendor and due date
Coordinate and define required expediting tasks for all placed purchase orders.
Contact vendors via email, telephone or vendor website to obtain status of open purchase orders (open purchase orders are those items due within the following two weeks or items entered that have not been acknowledged in writing by the vendor)
Assess and challenge data received. Formulate and execute appropriate corrective actions, when necessary, to ensure suppliers meet critical contract milestones including schedule and quality.
If tracking number provided - track package via internet on freight sites - confirm receipt and obtain signature information
Research and troubleshoot issues from vendor if updated delivery date is unexpected (i.e. delivery date pushed back more than once, delivery date pushed out more than 2 - 3 weeks, etc.) and notify buyer / site manager of potential issue
Update delivery information in P21 item record
Maintains database integrity by purging old and outdated purchase orders.
Attend buyers meetings for feedback on vendor issues
Attend weekly 5-minute meeting department meeting held by Supervisor and company meetings held by management
Keep work area organized and clean
Address special projects as assigned by Supervisor or Lead
