We are working with an established construction business with offices in Lancashire to secure the services of a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter who can be flexible enough to work on contracts throughout the country. The role will see the incumbent working on a wide variety of assets within the national water infrastructure network. The main duties are to fault find, repair and manufacture mechanical plant and machinery. The assets themselves include hydraulics, rotating equipment, Victorian and modern plant and machinery, large diameter valves and pipework fittings. A lot of these assets are in hazardous areas so it s essential that applicants know their way around a reservoir / water treatment works / etc and has worked on this specific type of equipment. Responsibilities of the Role: Supervise the onsite teams to ensure works are carried out safely, on time and on budget To promote and enforce safe working practices without prejudice As a Mechanical Fitter you ll have an inventive mind and be able to assess a mechanical failure Liaison with client to understand root cause and communicate a solution Through active supervision and site management, ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget Develop an action plan, arrange ordering and manufacture of parts Advise on RAMS production The Mechanical Fitter role is 90% based out on site with a team, working on all water industry assets from reservoirs to tap and toilet to river. It will suit someone who thinks that if what they need isn't available they'll make it and, ideally, has experience of working in the water industry. Once jobs are completed you need to be able to provide a written summary of the work completed with photographic evidence to help with the production of case studies, job completion reports etc. Requirements: Mechanical engineering qualifications are preferred, although recognition will be given to industry experience and knowledge. Proven track record and experience of working in the Water Industry. Proven ability to work in and lead engineering teams safely and effectively. Ability to think outside the box in order to develop intelligent, engineered and bespoke solutions for our customers, covering reservoirs, the potable water and wastewater network and treatment plants. Full driving license required Ideally the client is looking to secure a permanent employee for the role but will accept freelance in the interim.
