Mechanical Technician / M&E Consultant Location: Worcester Salary: Up to £200 per day a 4-6 month contract with the intention to become permanent M&E Consultant 4-6 month contract Option of permanent stability with excellent benefits if performance is satisfactory As a M&E Technician, you will provide professional expertise, technical advice and support relating to the condition, capacity, suitability and statutory compliance of mechanical installations, plant and equipment to design, commission and supervise appropriate resources that will undertake improvements and maintenance as part of a mechanical systems installation and maintenance strategy. Your duties and responsibilities as a M&E Consultant will be as followed: Ensuring that installations and maintenance regimes are safe, appropriate and ensure that long term safety considerations are accounted for Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.Making sure that mechanical solutions can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments Designing and implementing cost-effective plant and equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliabilityDeveloping a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines Developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs Managing projects using engineering principles and techniques Planning and designing appropriate operational processes to complement mechanical installations Producing detailed specifications and outline designs Contributing to and preparing risk assessments and method statements for specific elements of work or as part of a larger project Recommending modifications following prototype test results Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design Considering the implications of issues such as cost, reliability and time constraints Working with other professionals, within and outside the mechanical engineering sector Monitoring and commissioning plant and systems To be successful in this role as M&E Consultant, you will have the following skills/experience: Demonstrable, solid understanding of mechanical systems relating to commercial buildings Qualified up to a degree level, or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area. Member of an appropriate professional institution. Experience in the practical application and knowledge of Health and Safety Management, specifically related to mechanical systems, plant and equipment. Experienced in managing a wide range of tasks of varying sizes and at a diverse number of locations. Specific knowledge about and a proven track record of managing the design, installation of and service contracts relating to BMS, HVAC plant, water, gas, oil, biomass control systems. Experienced in responding to a diverse range of customer requirements. Knowledge of personal safety and experienced in the practical application of safe systems of work relating to mechanical systems in sometimes restricted areas of a building. Proven track record of communicating with clients in a professional manner and disseminating information to clients to provide clarity and assurance about any work that is undertaken. Excellent prioritisation skills and resilience skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and associated communication software (such as Outlook) Your Rewards in your new role Initial 4-6 month contract with the view to become a permanent member of staff which will be performance dependent.
