Job Objective:
Acts as a liaison between business/product analysts, software development teams, and individual business units to understand how the request will affect the business processes and applications. Directs and participates in automation design teams to design, create, test and implement various automation projects. Creates test procedures to be employed within Company developed software applications and/or mainframe technologies. Acts as a team lead for technical questions regarding product interactions, complex work orders, testing automation, functionality of new features within software applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as a liaison between business/product analysts, software development teams, and individual business units to understand how the request will affect the business processes and applications. Ask questions about the functionality in order to better understand the changes of process. Provides a complex level of understanding about the interaction of various systems with each other and provides an understanding about business processes. Provides specialized technical knowledge for the creation and implementation of various software and mainframe feature requests and applications. Works with software development staff to ensure that the technology products are straightforward and easy to use. 35-50% Daily
Learns the necessary skills to develop test cases in the testing automation product. Directs and participates in automation design teams to design, create, test and implement various automation projects. Determines frequency of testing and whether testing should be automated or manually generated. Communicates with Technology Administrators, business analysts, and business owners in the creation and implementation of testing automation.
15-20% Daily
Designs, builds and instructs others in the building of test case scenarios for usage in the testing process and regression testing mechanisms. Creates test procedures to be employed within Company developed software applications and/or mainframe technologies. Communicates with product-specific technology administrators, business analysts, and business owners in creation of test plans. 15-20% Daily
Acts as a team lead for technical questions regarding product interactions, complex work orders, testing automation, functionality of new features within software applications. 10-15% Daily
Provides troubleshooting of Company software applications. Determines work order complexity and priority. Works directly with Agents and Company personnel to provide technical support for complex problems relating to our rating, issuance, billing, information service and other software products impacting Agency and Company operations. Determines how they can be designed or modified to work more effectively. Works with the Software Department, Database Team, Pricing Department, Underwriting, etc. until the problem is resolved. 10-15% Daily
Directs and/or participates in the testing of new computer applications, updates to existing applications and software enhancements. 5-10% Daily
Trains testing personnel on methods and procedures necessary to test individual software and/or mainframe applications. Directs others on training and/or trains individuals in other areas of the Company on testing processes when additional testing resource or specialized testing resource is required. 5% Daily
Tests applications in conjunction with "go live" events, software upgrades, server migrations, etc. during working hours and after hours as required by urgency or nature of the situation. Participates in recommendations regarding whether to abort a software upgrade or "go live" event. As needed
Trains Agents, Company personnel and other end users on usage of various Company and Vendor software applications. Conducts initial formal training explaining the details of each technology application as the software product is made available to them. May travel to agencies and remote Company offices to learn more about how the software applications are performing and troubleshoot various issues. As needed
Serves on technology teams for external vendor technology products such as Imaging, Duck Creek, E-Signature, Cancellation Rules, VIN, etc. Participates on the vendor technology teams to create test plans, coordinate and/or test the software applications, and assist with the overall implementation of new products into the technology environment. As Needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ( minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job function)
Required Knowledge:
Bachelor degree in business or related field or equivalent
3-5 years related work experience including business processes
Insurance coverages and rating schemes and insurance products
Personal computer and related spreadsheet and data manipulation software
Knowledge of technology testing methods and procedures
Preferred Knowledge
Principles of finance, business, statistics, and insurance
Knowledge of property casualty rating and policy coverages and endorsements
Insurance industry and marketing techniques
Company, Agency, and department practices and procedures
