Position Overview:

In this role the Infrastructure Architect will convert business requirements into an architecture and design the blue print for resolving business driven technology needs.

How you will impact Ingevity:

  • Partners with technology leadership to develop strategies and standards for developing common supported technology infrastructure.
  • Track emerging technologies in the industry, and provide technology recommendations, risk assessments, trade studies, and analyses
  • Defines, develops and documents proposed high-level solutions, and facilitates the deployment of business enhancing projects.
  • Analyzes technical risks and advises on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Minimize the technical, operational, and economic barriers relative to adoption of sophisticated robotic solutions
  • Designs architectural methodologies and reviews existing systems and new technologies to  assess how they will fit within the overall architecture framework for cloud solutions
  • Research and identify emerging technologies or trends to create value for the supply chain and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate how digitization and emerging technologies/techniques can create value.
  • Understand the current and define the future architectures for the integration of MES solutions with ERP software and plant automation equipment.
  • Analyzes available assets (frameworks, reference architectures, etc.) to bridge the gap between the as-is architecture and the to-be architecture.
  • Defines system use cases and requirements.
  • Evaluates non-functional requirements for testability and technical acceptance criteria.
  • Creates high-level models that guide solution architecture. Including component, context, data-flow security, data, services, infrastructure, deployment and integration viewpoints.
  • Creates transitional architecture views as part of solution design.
  • Defines and documents the actions needed to close architecture gaps in support of business objectives.
  • Participates in reviews of the designs, prototypes and other technical deliverables to ensure they fulfill requirements and meet standards.
  • Clearly and accurately documents architectural decisions for review and execution by cross functional teams.
  • This position will engage with multiple functional teams at depersered  global plant locations, IT groups (Infrastructure/Field Services, Enterprise Applications, Business Relationship Management), and corporate business units (ex: HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Audit, Plant Personnel).  Interactive engagement will require communication with individual contributors, middle management, and executive management.
  • Proven skills in leadership, relationship building, negotiation, collaboration, advocacy, governance, and consensus building.
  • This position will engage and manage external contacts including vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and technology partners.

What you need to succeed:

  • 8+ years' professional Information Technology experience in solutioning, designing, developing, and delivering technology solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience with extended knowledge of core manufacturing processes and plant floor equipment and operations
  • 3+ years' technical team leadership experience.
  • 5+ years' hands-on solutions architecture experience designing automation and system integration solutions
  • 5+ years developing technology based solutions in manufacturing 
  • Proven skills in leadership, relationship building, negotiation, collaboration, advocacy, governance, and consensus building.
  • Design methodologies across multiple platforms.
  • Any experience with technologies and industry trends in Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT would be fa strong plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution) at all levels.
  • Ability to translate technical ideas/designs to multiple audiences, including Executives.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with multiple SDLC methods such as waterfall, SCRUM, and/or Agile.
  • Team player. Proven ability to work effectively within a large organization that operates using a matrix organization.
  • Ability to communicate trade-offs and transactional states with technical and business teams.
  • This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
